Brunel Pension Partnership is delighted to report that it has been named winner in two categories at the IPE Transition Awards in Brussels!

Brunel’s awards came in two crucial categories: Stewardship Campaign & Strategy and Transparency & Communication on Transition Strategies.

“This is a very proud moment for Brunel and recognises the enormous work that we have achieved together in the past year, both as a team and as a broader partnership,” said Laura Chappell, CEO. “Responsible Investment faces global headwinds, so it is crucial both that investors continue to take a sustainable, long-term approach as stewards of capital, and that they communicate their approach to the broader market. These award categories demonstrate Brunel’s determined commitment in these areas.”

The Investment & Pensions Europe Transition awards, which draw applications from leading climate investors from across Europe, focus specifically on investing for the climate transition.

What the judges said

The award ceremony was held in Brussels. Judges on the panels delivered specific feedback on why Brunel was chosen in each category.

“This entry stood out especially for the nice description of efforts to bring about the Asset Owner Statement on Climate Stewardship, which contributes toward a more aligned approach within the industry on what constitutes climate stewardship. Brunel is a frontrunner and an example on ESG – so here also on stewardship.”

“Brunel has a very methodical and well thought through approach to transparency and communicating its transition strategy. It is aware that it has many stakeholders and the use of a range of formats, going beyond regulatory reporting, is necessary. This includes participation in inside industry initiatives to influence sector change and to set common standards for levelling the playing field. The thorough approach to communication underscores this pension fund’s solid understanding of what it means to be transparent in its approach to integrating transition considerations in its operations. The pension fund’s entry is also valued for its integrated approach to designating its three top priorities, embracing both environmental and social issues: climate change; biodiversity and nature; and human rights and social issues.”
