LGC: Denise Le Gal sets out how to achieve good governance at LGPS
Good governance for LGPS funds requires clear, nimble leadership – at pool level and also in Westminster, Brunel’s Chair has argued in an opinion piece published by Local Government Chronicle.
In the article, Denise explored the impact of both the pandemic and the LDI crisis on the LGPS universe, and argued that the LGPS needs strong, agile leadership from the LGPS pools and from central government.
“In today’s world, good governance should be a continuum of improvement, adaptability and resilience, with a firm eye on the distant horizon as we navigate choppy waters,” said Le Gal. “For Local Government Pension Scheme funds and their pools, the processes needed to achieve that equilibrium are nuanced and complex.”
The article has been published ahead of Denise appearing on a panel about governance at the Local Government Chronicle Investment Seminar on 30-31 March.
